Truck crushes lady to death at Lekki Garden Junction

Too sad. A lady who was trying to get to work at Lekki Gardens this morning was crushed to death by a truck. According to eyewitness, the lady was trying to cross from the Abraham Adesanya End to the Lekki Gardens End when the truck ran over her. The truck driver tried to run but was stopped by a crowd that immediately gathered.

One of her colleagues eventually came to the scene and identified her and even said tomorrow is her birthday. People are still gathered there waiting for police to arrive.

May her soul rest in peace...amen

‘Ebola not caused by witchcraft’

A rights group in the United Kingdom (UK), the Witchcraft and Human Rights Information Network (WHRIN), has called for more enlightenment on the Ebola virus. WHRIN’s Executive Director Gary Foxcroft said superstitious beliefs and inadequate health facilities may lead to the spread of the virus. The activist urged the United Nations (UN) bodies, governments, aid agencies and civil society organisations (CSOs) to demystify the causes of the outbreak. He noted that proper enlightenment would enable communities to understand that the disease is not caused by witchcraft to curb its spread. “Ebola is not caused by witchcraft. Rather, it is an infectious disease with a rational, scientific explanation of how it was created, how it is spread and how it can be treated. There is a huge amount of work that needs to be done to demystify the medical condition that is commonly associated with witchcraft across West Africa. They need to use all media tools at their disposal ...

All were people who had had primary contact with Patrick Sawyer, who collapsed on arrival at Lagos airport on July 25th and later died, Health Minister Onyebuchi Chukwu told a news conference. A nurse who treated him not knowing what it was and without protective gear also died. “As at today, 77 primary and secondary contacts of the index case have been placed under surveillance or isolation,” he added. The latest case was also a nurse who had had primary contact with Sawyer. “When she got ill, we then brought her into isolation. We just tested her over the weekend.” She had been at home with her husband, who was also now under surveillance, Chukwu said. The West African Ebola outbreak is the worst in history and the World Health Organization (WHO) said on...
