My Successor Will Be Chosen By God, Says Jang

JONAH-JANG
Governor of Plateau State, Jonah Jang, said yesterday that he would not be the one to choose and anoint his successor as he could only trust and look up to God to pick a suitable person to take succeed him.
Governor Jang, who made this statement while receiving officials of the state chapter of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) during a courtesy visit at the Government Lodge, Jishe, said, “It’s God that will anoint a man after His own heart, a man who can stand for His name, a man who will be bold to do the right things and who can stand firmly for the people of Plateau State”.
The governor has often been reported as being reluctant to pick a successor because according to him, he has not ‘heard’ from God even as he is widely perceived as being hostile to anyone coming out to express interest in the governorship race, while he is yet to indicate his own wish.
Jang said that the much he has done in recent times as the incumbent governor, has been to direct his commissioners to prepare their handover notes, as he was interested in a proper transition to the next government come May 29, 2015.
Earlier, leader of the team and state Chairman of PFN, Rev. David Adegboye, said the Christian body was at the Government Lodge to appreciate the governor for the development projects he has executed in the state and to urge him to do more.
Adegboye said, “PFN has been enjoying your fellowship. We notice your development strides. Anyone visiting the state for the first time after the past ten years will marvel at how the state has changed for the better. We have come to appreciate you for this”.
The PFN leadership also conferred on the governor a merit award, a plaque for excellence in leadership and held a prayer session with him.
