Keshi’s contract on hold

The on going crisis in the Nigerian Football federation may have put a halt to the planned new contract for Super Eagles coach Stephen keshi which was expected to have been sealed during the week.
However, following the reinstatement of Alhaji Aminu Maigari, all plans put in place by the board had to be suspended pending the resolution of the logjam
If the letter from the world football governing body FIFA is followed to the letter, then his appointment may not be confirmed until after the election. FIFA had directed that all issues should be put on hold until after the August 26th election.
The acting president of the board chief Mike Umeh had earlier disclosed that a new deal will be sealed before the end of the week, but FIFA’s order had thrown spanners in the works.
It was gathered that the meeting between the coach and officials of the NFF was moved till next week due to the new development.
However, while the issue lingers, the coach may be considering another option if the contract talks fails to yield result. Although he has many offers tabled before him, Keshi may take break from coaching to spend some time with his family before deciding his future.
Our source disclosed that the former Eagles captain is ready to take up the Eagles job, but was not desperate if new terms cannot be agreed
There were speculations that the gaffer would be offered a N7 million monthly package, but our source said that was still at the realm of speculations. “Nothing is concrete yet , but Keshi is ready to take up the offer once it is made. However, he would also be considering other options because coaching is about hiring and firing”
