Enugu PDP dismisses crisis allegation

Enugu State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed allegation by its former national auditor, Ray Nnaji, that there is crisis in the party and that he conceded his position as chairman of the party in 2008 to Vita Abba on certain conditions.
The party in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Dr. Okey Eze, described the claims of Nnaji as “false, unfounded, baseless, laughable and smack of a grand design by those who are uncomfortable with the steady progress being made by the party and its government in Enugu State.”
The party said Nnaji wanted to mislead the public and paint the leadership of the party in the state in bad light. “It is therefore spurious for Nnaji to allege that he emerged the chairman of the party after its state congress in 2008 and conceded his position to Abba, when in the first instance, he (Nnaji) was never elected as the chairman of the party in the party’s state congress organised in 2008.
“What is even more laughable is the fact that the tenure of the state chairmanship which he fruitlessly canvassed in court in 2008 and which he is now threatening to re-open in court has long expired as at February 27, 2012, consequent upon which a fresh state congress was organised in March 17, 2012 and elected a new set of state executive of the party under the leadership of Vita Abba.
“The allegation that the state executive of the party is a mere rubber stamp to the state government is also baseless and unfounded.”
The state leadership of our party since its inception has lived up to its responsibilities without any interference by the state government. We have established a new order of peace and stability in the party till date,” the party stated.

‘Trainer of female bombers’ arrested in Kano'

The Joint Task Force (JTF) in Kano has arrested a man suspected to be the trainer of female suicide bombers. 16 females said to be undergoing training for suicide operations were also arrested. According to report, the man identified as Ibrahim Ibrahim was arrested in Dala local government area of the state during a raid carried out by the task force. Report said the females were being trained to carry out suicide bombings when JTF raided their training ground and arrested them and their trainer. The Spokesman of the JTF in Kano, Captain Ikechukwu Eze, confirmed the arrest, saying investigation is still ongoing on the matter.
